Textilita Lives!
Textilita now has it's own home. BlogSpot's {good riddance} been more than spotty the past week or so, so this is still a work in progress...
* An excellent article {NYT, reg. req.} on artist Andrea Zittel and her work. I'm particularly drawn to the "A-Z Personal Uniforms" project. I've had the desire for a uniform for many years, but it should express nothing, {not really possible}. I'm very interested to see what hers "say". For many years now, I've wanted the attention to be on my work, not my person.
Her show is up now and remains til May 27th, 2006 at the New Museum of Contemporary Art, 556 West 22nd Street, Chelsea; (212) 219-1222.
* Two fantastic blogs: One new: Whip Up, from Australia, is a group blog about textiles, design and crafts. Also: Threadbared, new to me and very funny. {thanks, Alexandra!}
* One of my favorite stores of all time, Anthropologie, has some really beautiful things this Spring! While I have no use for chargers, especially at home, this one is lovely:

Made by pressing vintage lace into charcoal clay, they're all one of a kind, and the price reflects that, $98. US

How strange -- I was just going to ask you if you'd seen the Andrea Zittel show! She gave a talk at NYU last week (wearing one of her felted dresses) -- very interesting. I think she's giving another talk Thurs at Whitney Altria.
Thanks for the tip! I haven't seen it yet, but will definitely make time to. Can't wait!
I saw a piece on Zittel last year in vogue and was particularly takn with her uniforms and had thought of you also at the time but thought you probably new of her and her work....
